Secretary of Defense James Mattis explained to Trump in another meeting that troops are there in order to "prevent World War III", the book claims.

The tweet was never sent out, reportedly due to backchannel communications with North Korea that said the North would regard the move as a sign the USA was preparing to wage war.

"He drafts a tweet saying 'We are going to pull our dependents from South Korea - family members of the 28,000 people there, '" Woodward told CBS.

Ultimately the tweet was never sent.

Trump also tweeted "TREASON?"

According to a clip from the show, Trump made a comparison between his salary and those of the cast of the popular NBC comedy series "Friends". 'He's a tough guy, The way to deal with those people is by being tough.

"I'm not going to sit there and let him look like an idiot".

U.S. tensions with North Korea have subsided since Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met in Singapore on June 12, 2018.

Trump reacted with fury to the anonymous account, published by the New York Times on Wednesday, which was written by a current Trump administration official and claimed an internal White House coalition is working to frustrate "his worst inclinations" until he leaves - or can be removed from - office.

Luke Shaw has returned to the England fold following a strong start to the season despite Manchester United's poor results. We want to show that we are up there with the best and want to be considered as one of the top ten nations in the world.

The opinion piece followed publication on Tuesday of the first excerpts from a damaging book by Bob Woodward of The Washington Post describing chaos in the White House.

Meanwhile White House counselor Kellyanne Conway told NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday that she didn't bring Woodward's request to interview the president for the book directly to Trump.

"If I rang the police today and said Eddie Mair has done this to me, you would be arrested". "One person I interviewed nine times and transcripts of these conversations are 7 or 800 pages long, goes hundreds of pages", he added.

An Alabama supporter of President Donald Trump's told CNN that he would believe author Bob Woodward over the president.

Speaking to reporters, Trump warned of a national security imperative to unmasking and punishing the person responsible for the New York Times piece depicting a "two-track presidency" in which some top staffers make up a "resistance" force working to thwart Trump's "misguided impulses".

The reduced display compared to past years earned a thank you note from Trump, who hailed it as a "big and very positive statement from North Korea".

In his book, Woodward, who shot to fame more than 40 years ago for his reporting on the Watergate political scandal, portrays Trump as prone to profane outbursts and impulsive decision-making, with top aides anxious the United States is one Trump tweet away from a national or economic security crisis. "What is the specific incident?'"
