CBS's Jeff Fager: 60 Minutes producer out amid #MeToo claims

039;60 Minutes' executive producer Jeff Fager exits CBS News

It was the first time in the history of the show that Chen has used the Moonves surname while signing off, a clear indication that she still supports her husband amid the accusations levied against him in two blistering New Yorker articles by Ronan Farrow.

At a tense "60 Minutes" meeting on Wednesday with Rhodes, staffers insisted on an explanation of just how Fager had so violated company policy as to warrant summary dismissal. Now, with more serious allegations against the fallen CBS exec making headlines, Chen has not issued a statement on her current stance.

The text message from Fager represents an attempt to pull rank and intimidate a reporter, something that surely happens to investigative reporters all the time at CBS News. It was. I'll have more reporting on this tonight, ' she wrote on Twitter.

Duncan reported on the situation with Fager on Wednesday's edition of "CBS Evening News".

Jeff Fager, the executive producer of 60 Minutes who was accused of promoting a culture of sexual harassment alongside Les Moonves within CBS's news division, is leaving the company.

When Duncan attempted to reach out to him, she said he responded with a text message threatening to jeapordize her career if she proceeded to report on the accusations.

In a statement to CBS News, Fager said his contract was terminated "for a harsh text I sent to a CBS employee". But Moonves wasn't the only CBS honcho named in the second report, and the spotlight was placed firmly on Fager once Moonves was shown the door.

Trump declares thousands of deaths in Puerto Rico fake news
Cora called Trump's attempt to downplay the deaths caused by Hurricane Maria " disrespectful ", according to the Boston Globe. The goal? To make him look bad, of course! "Then, a long time later, they started to report really large numbers, like 3000".

His firing resulted in raw feelings at the show, where CBS News President David Rhodes had a contentious meeting with staff on Wednesday, many of whom later joined Fager to commiserate at a nearby bar.

Bill Owens will manage the "60 Minutes" team until a new executive producer is hired.

In July, after Farrow's first New Yorker expose, Chen issued a defiant statement, saying, "I have known my husband, Leslie Moonves, since the late '90s, and I have been married to him for nearly 14 years". The $20 million would come out of any compensation Moonves is due to receive following the conclusion of an ongoing investigation into the allegations against him. He also introduced "CBS This Morning" in January 2012.

"Despite Charlie's important journalistic contribution to our news division, there is absolutely nothing more important, in this or any organization, than ensuring a safe, professional workplace - a supportive environment where people feel they can do their best work", Rhodes said in a memo past year.

"Despite Charlie's important journalistic contribution to our news division, there is absolutely nothing more important, in this or any organization, than ensuring a safe, professional workplace - a supportive environment where people feel they can do their best work", Rhodes said in a memo previous year.

"We are going to stay in this meeting until midnight if we need to until we get an agreement that we stand 100 percent behind our CEO, and there will be no change in his status", the paper says board member William Cohen told the other directors.
