President Trump: Sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh 'totally political'

Second woman makes allegation against Kavanaugh

In a television interview on Monday, White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway said the White House took the allegations seriously and that Ramirez should contact the committee if she also wants to testify.

Trump, at the United Nations in NY, declared that Kavanaugh is "outstanding", and added, "I am with him all the way".

McConnell read excerpts from a New York Times report that on Sunday raised questions about claims by Deborah Ramirez, who has accused Kavanaugh of drunkenly exposing himself to her during a dorm party while they were freshman classmates at Yale University.

Participants were encouraged to wear black and use the hashtag #BelieveSurvivors in solidarity with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Kavanaugh of assaulting her when they both were teenagers in the 1980s.

Trump returned to Kavanaugh later Monday after signing a new trade deal with South Korea.

Kavanaugh has denied the allegation made by Ramirez in a statement released through the White House, calling it "a smear, plain and simple".

The top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Dianne Feinstein, was the recipient of a then-anonymous letter from Ford detailing the allegation that Kavanaugh pressed his body on her and tried to remove her swimsuit when they were both in college.

Kavanaugh has denied both allegations against him. Taylor Foy, a Judiciary spokesman, complained that Democrats "actively withheld information" from the Republicans. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the committee, to immediately postpone confirmation proceedings until the FBI could investigate.

"No innuendo has been too low, no insinuation too dirty", Senator Hatch said, adding the committee should proceed with its hearing on Thursday and "then we should vote".

Former Barcelona star Luis Garcia believes Real Madrid are fine without Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed terrific football last season, but he has not been able to continue his form for Juventus . This would have ruled him out of Juventus' visit to Ronaldo's former club Manchester United on matchday 3.

A White House spokeswoman says the administration stands by the nominee, labelling the allegation "the latest in a co-ordinated smear campaign by the Democrats created to tear a good man down".

The controversy over Kavanaugh is unfolding just weeks before November 6 congressional elections in which Democrats are trying to take control of Congress from Trump's fellow Republicans, against a backdrop of the #MeToo movement fighting sexual harassment and assault. "These are highly unsubstantiated statements from people represented by lawyers", he said.

One Republican close to Kavanaugh's confirmation process who wasn't authorized to speak on the record, said "there's resolve in the White House".

Speaking in NY, where he is attending the U.N. General Assembly this week, Trump said the allegations against Kavanaugh are "totally political".

The second accuser's allegation was published shortly after the judiciary panel had negotiated the terms of a hearing at which the first accuser, Christine Ford, will testify. I hope that we can find such a setting and that you will understand that I have one motivation in coming forward - to tell the truth about what Mr. Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge did to me.

She said on CBS "This Morning" that the allegations against Kavanaugh, now by a second woman, sound like a "vast left-wing conspiracy". Susan Collins and others showing up at Capitol Hill, urging politicians to block the confirmation and hold Kavanaugh accountable.

Republicans have slammed the timing of the accusations as a political smear campaign aimed at derailing Kavanaugh's confirmation. "It should be fully investigated", judiciary committee member Sen.

In her conversations with the magazine, Ramirez wasn't initially certain of Kavanaugh's role in the incident.
