Wolves Owner Glen Taylor Ready to Trade Jimmy Butler Himself if Necessary

The Cavs are said to be pursuing a deal with the T Wolves for All Star swingman Jimmy Butler

From all indications, based on the information that has leaked via ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski (and others) over the last 48 hours, it feels like this is becoming a three-team race between the Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.

With the clock ticking on Butler's tenure in Minnesota in the wake of ESPN's report of Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor seeking a resolution amid this week's opening of National Basketball Association training camps, several analysts have an eye pointed south.

Butler skipped media day Monday, and is expected to miss training camp as he waits for the Timberwolves to find a deal.

Thibodeau and GM Scott Layden, who is the point man for trade conversations, continue to leave rival executives and owners unclear about both the specific players and broader kinds of assets that the Wolves value in a deal, sources said.

Thibodeau has been willing to coach the Timberwolves through the dysfunction that has surrounded his star players, but Taylor has sided with Butler and agreed that the Wolves should part ways with the four-time All-Star, sources said. Thibodeau did concede that there's never an ideal time to have to trade a player of Butler's magnitude.

Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger Has Been Fired
The officer claimed she entered Jean's home thinking it was her own and mistook him for a burglar, according to court documents. Nevertheless, police opened an internal affairs investigation into Guyger after her arrest, according to Monday's statement .

To facilitate a Butler trade, the sort of broader deal necessary to meet the financial needs of Minnesota and Butler's future team, circumstances will necessitate bringing the Sacramento Kings into the process.

Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor is ready for the Jimmy Butler era in to end.

As weird as the situation in the Twin Cities is getting, Thibodeau was still very calm at the team's media day on Monday, saying they aren't going to "make a bad deal".

Butler, 29, is playing on the previous year of a contract that will pay him almost $20 million next season and has made it clear he does not intend to re-sign with Minnesota.

For the record, all three of those teams remain in the hunt for his services, but Timberwolves are likely to make the transaction that works in their favor since Butler is entering 2019 on an expiring contract.
