FBI Spoke With Ramirez on Sunday As Part Of Kavanaugh Probe

Brett Kavanaugh during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing

The FBI on Sunday interviewed Deborah Ramirez, the Boulder woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, a source familiar with the investigation confirmed to 9NEWS.

Both Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, who testified Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were in high school, were not on the initial list of witnesses the Senate Republicans gave to the White House for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to interview, according to CNN.

"I've done everything they have requested and will continue to cooperate", he said in a statement issued by the White House.

The senator from Hawaii sat down for an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopolous to discuss the pending investigation into Judge Kavanaugh's allegations, calling it a "farce". Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) was the first to make that demand shortly before he voted to advance Kavanaugh's nomination to the Senate.

The stunning reversal capped two weeks of allegations, followed by furious denials, that roiled prospects for Trump's nominee, a conservative federal appeals court judge once expected to sail through Senate confirmation for the lifetime appointment to the top USA court.

But the White House made clear there would be limits to the probe. "They laid out the request and we've opened it up, as you heard the president say, to 'do what you need to do.' This is what they do and we're out of the way to let them do exactly that".

Senate GOP Hires Woman to Question Ford, Kavanaugh
Mitchell has helped train psychologists, medical professionals, forensic interviewers and detectives in sex-crimes issues. She studied law at Arizona State University, passing the bar in 1992, and since 1993 has worked as a prosecutor.

In a separate report on Sunday, NBC quoted a senior U.S. official and a second source as saying the limits imposed by the White House on the inquiry remained in place, despite Trump's tweet.

A Democratic member of the Judiciary Committee, Senator Amy Klobuchar, told CNN that she was "very concerned" by the reported White House constraints on the inquiry.

"NBC News incorrectly reported (as usual) that I was limiting the FBI investigation of Judge Kavanaugh, and witnesses, only to certain people". Trump denied that story, tweeting that 'Actually, I want them to interview whoever they deem appropriate, at their discretion'. "Please correct your reporting!"

Kavanaugh's high school friend Mark Judge, who Ford says was in the room when a drunken Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her, said that he will cooperate with any law enforcement agency that will "confidentially investigate" sexual misconduct allegations against him and Kavanaugh.

The chaos culminated in a September 27 hearing where Ford stood by her account and Kavanaugh refuted the allegation.

"Democrats' search and destroy strategy is disgraceful and this process has been a total sham and effort to delay, obstruct, and resist". On Sunday, he criticized Democrats for expressing concerns about the length and scope of the probe. "Hello! For them, it will never be enough".
