Police reopen Ronaldo sexual assault investigation

A woman has accused Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the world's biggest soccer stars, of raping her in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.

Mayorga says she previously reached a settlement with Ronaldo's lawyers in 2009, signing a non-disclosure agreement and receiving $375,000.

Hours after the report broke, Ronaldo responded to the claims made by Kathryn Mayorga in the piece with an Instagram Live video, calling the allegations "fake news".

The lawyer for the woman who has filed a civil complaint accusing Cristiano Ronaldo of sexual assault asserted the sincerity of the case on Monday, after the Juventus star rejected the claims as "fake news".

"What they said today, fake - fake news", the footballer said. "You want to promote by my name. I'm (a) happy man and all, all good". Despite protesting multiple times, saying no, and attempting to block him, Mayorga says Ronaldo anally raped her.

According to court filings, she claims Ronaldo invited her, her friend and others to his penthouse suite.

These claims have been denied by Ronaldo's legal team as "blatantly illegal".

In the filing, she alleged that Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo forced himself on her while on holiday in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ramsey poised to leave Arsenal after club withdraw contract offer
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is likely to leave the club next summer after the Gunners withdrew the offer of a new deal. Asked if he thought the situation would impact on Ramsey's performances, Emery said: "I think not".

It said the assault had left her with "severe emotional and bodily injuries" and "major depression".

She has since quit her teaching job and gone into hiding.

This week, however, the woman has identified herself as Kathryn Mayorga to the publication, and shared her detailed account of the assault with the publication.

Mayorga told Der Spiegel that she chose to come forward this year after the #MeToo movement that has seen victims speak out about past sexual abuse.

After she refused his demand to perform oral sex and said she wanted to leave, Ronaldo pulled her into a bedroom and anally raped her while she screamed "no, no, no", the complaint said. Their denials form the defamation claims in Mayorga's lawsuit. In a later interview published by Der Spiegel on Saturday, in which she was identified for the first time, she said that she had followed the online reaction to the original story closely.

This is one dive soccer superstar Christian Ronaldo may not recover from.

"I have had like these serious breakdowns", she told the magazine. A Portuguese citizen, Ronaldo was transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009 for a then-record sum of 94 million euros, or about $130 million.

Ronaldo's girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez, is standing by him as well.
