'I'm not even a professional footballer', Usain Bolt questions drugs test notice

Usain Bolt Central Coast Mariners

Bolt is hoping to crack the A-League after showing signs of improvement in a pre-season trial where he scored two goals, however it remains unclear if the Mariners will add him to their books.

The Mariners want FFA to contribute to Bolt's multimillion-dollar contract but it is believed he doesn't meet the criteria as a marquee player.

Bolt, 32, is awaiting confirmation over a professional contract within his six-week trial with A-League side Central Coast Mariners.

The Channel Seven Sunrise panel was left stunned after host David Koch appeared to make a "joke" about slavery during a segment on Jamaican-born athlete Usain Bolt.

"So guys I've retired from track and field looking to become a footballer, but look at this", he said in a video posted on social media, as he zoomed into the document.

Their legislation defines an athlete as a "person who competes in sport" if "the sport has an anti-doping policy". CEO Shaun Mielekamp told ESPN that "it's too early to tell" if they will be making an offer to him.

When the club's new backers confirmed the deal, they spoke of their Champions League aspirations for Valletta and how they plan to recruit a number of "high-quality signings" in the coming months.

The Mariners hierarchy have not been officially informed of any impending exit by Bolt's London-based agent Ricky Simms, despite Valletta's own declaration that a contract is in the offing.
