Trump lashes out at Paul Ryan over birthright citizenship comments

President Donald Trump speaks during a rally at Southern Illinois Airport in Murphysboro Ill

During the interview on Tuesday, Ryan quickly sought to emphasize common ground with the President on immigration policy, despite saying that it was not possible to end birthright citizenship via executive order.

Mifubaby, a Beijing-based agent offering services for pre- and post-maternity services in Los Angeles and Saipan, said it was not easy to amend the United States constitution so there was little need to worry now.

TRUMP: "We're the only country in the world where a person comes in, has a baby and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits".

There has not been a challenge to this interpretation in 120 years.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of SC was quick to express his support for Mr Trump's plan. However, White House lawyers expect to work with the Justice Department to develop a legal justification for the action.

Other Republicans were critical. And most legal scholars say it would take a new constitutional amendment to alter the current one granting citizenship to anyone born in America.

He said he would change the USA constitution's 14th amendment, which gives citizenship to all born on U.S. soil, via an executive order.

In the run-up to the November 6 congressional elections, Trump has seized on a caravan of migrants from Central America who are trekking through Mexico toward the United States, calling the migrants a threat.

City crushed Burnley 5-0 last weekend and followed up with a 3-0 win at Shakhtar Donetsk and look in ominous form. It's my first defeat [in his opening season] and I know how strong they are.

Executive orders really depend on the subject matter they cover.

"Just so you understand, a person comes in - was never in our country before - has a baby, now all of a sudden the baby is a U.S. citizen".

Radio Sputnik's Fault Lines spoke with Andrew Arthur, resident fellow in Law and Policy for the Center for Immigration Studies, about the history of the legal debate around birthright citizenship and why Trump is picking this fight.

Opinion polls show Democrats have a chance at achieving the net gain of 23 seats they need to win a majority in the House but they have a longer shot at the Senate, where they need a gain of two seats. "That is a far cry from what President Trump is trying to do". At the same time, the President has derided his predecessor Barack Obama for taking executive actions to block some young undocumented immigrants from deportation, a step Trump said was a presidential overstep.

The right to citizenship for anyone born in the United States is guaranteed in the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. Trump, seeking to energise his supporters and help Republicans keep control of Congress, has stoked anxiety about a caravan of Central American migrants making its way to the US-Mexico border. Guess again. If you break our laws by entering this country without our permission and give birth to a child, we reward that child with USA citizenship and guarantee a full access to all public and social services this society provides, and that's a lot of services.

"We all know what the 14th Amendment says".

The Constitution's citizenship clause was part of the post-Civil War amendments that enshrined the rights of African-Americans. Officials said they had no plans to deploy as many as 15,000 troops. After I proposed that terrible bill, my wife Landra immediately sat me down and said, 'Harry, what are you doing, don't you know that my father is an immigrant?' She set me straight. And 84 years later in its 1982 ruling in Plyler v. Doe, the Supreme Court ruled that even if one enters the USA illegally, they were within US jurisdiction-which means that any of their US -born children enjoy 14th Amendment protections.

Donald Trump said that the issue would be ultimately decided by the Supreme Court.
